The steel metal armature is wrapped with a non-toxic, environmentally friendly medical-grade material specially developed for Phicen bodies. This is 12-inch Alex Murphy from Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) and Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set - I've already covered battle damaged RoboCop earlier on my toy blog HERE and HERE. This movie-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Peter Weller as Alex Murphy in his police uniform from the 1987 RoboCop film featuring a newly developed head sculpt, highly detailed costume, weapons, and accessories. Besides the incredibly authentic and detailed likeness of Peter Weller as Alex Murphy 1/6th scale head sculpt, the figure also has removable hair sculpture so as to allow him to wear his police helmet. You can check out the instructions on how to wear the helmet in the review posted on my toy blog HERE.

Hot Toys OCP Detroit Police Department Officer Alex Murphy comes with a police helmet, navy police uniform (coverall) with name tag, bullet-proof vest, watch, black belt with pouches for his flashlight and handcuffs, and holster for his pistol, plus a pair of black boots. The Movie Masterpiece Series figure comes with two pistols with removable magazines and working slides - a Heckler & Koch P9S and SIG-Sauer P226.

Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) carries the SIG-Sauer P226 in 9x19mm as his sidearm. Murphy is also shown practicing twirling his SIG-Sauer P226 on his finger. This was essential for the plot to show similarities between Murphy and RoboCop. The Heckler & Koch P9S appears to be the standard sidearm of the Detroit Police Department in the movie and Murphy is seen firing his SIG-Sauer P226 and Lewis' Heckler & Koch P9S at Boddicker's gang during their pursuit of the gang. That's probably why two pistols are provided instead of just one for the holster.

Review III: Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale Alex Murphy Collectible Figure from 1987 RoboCop

Before Peter Weller was cast, Rutger Hauer and Arnold Schwarzenegger were favored to play RoboCop by Verhoeven and the producers, respectively. However, each man's large frame would have made it difficult for either of them to move in the cumbersome RoboCop suit, which had been modeled on hockey gear and designed to be large and bulky. Weller won the role both because Verhoeven felt that he could adequately convey pathos with his lower face, and because Weller was especially lithe and could more easily move inside the suit than a bigger actor.

Even for the RoboCop reboot which was released in 2014, Joel Kinnaman who plays Detective Alex James Murphy / RoboCop was a very skinny fellow, just like Peter Weller was because physically they still had to put the RoboCop suit over his body for the close-up shots. CGI can only do so much and for the original 1987 RoboCop film, there wasn't any CGI at all as stop-motion animation was used where special effects were needed.

This is the Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale Alex Murphy Collectible Figure which is part of the two-figure set which includes the battle damaged RoboCop covered earlier in my review posts on my toy blog HERE and HERE. This 1:6 scale figure has the authentic and detailed likeness of Peter Weller as Alex Murphy in his OCP police uniform as seen in the 1987 RoboCop film, with newly sculpted movie-accurate head sculpt that has facial expression with detailed wrinkles and skin texture as well as removable hair sculpture for wearing the police helmet, plus another piece of hair sculpture for placing at back of head sculpt when helmet is worn. It's all very cleverly done by Hot Toys and certainly deserves praise for their inventiveness and innovation.

CRAFTONE 1/6th Bushman figure resembles Paul Hogan as Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee

"Crocodile" Dundee is a 1986 Australian comedy film set in the Australian Outback and in New York City. It stars Paul Hogan as the weathered Mick Dundee. Hogan's future wife Linda Kozlowski portrayed Sue Charlton.

Inspired by the true life exploits of Rodney Ansell, the film was made on a budget of under $10 million as a deliberate attempt to make a commercial Australian film that would appeal to a mainstream American audience, but proved to be a worldwide phenomenon. Released on 30 April 1986 in Australia, and on 26 September 1986 in the United States, it was the second-highest-grossing film in the United States in that year and went on to become the second-highest grossing film worldwide at the box office as well.

This is an upcoming CRAFTONE release which is called 1/6th scale Bushman collectible action figure and it certainly resembles Paul Hogan as Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee from the 1986 film.

Our World 1/6th scale Brave Huntsman 12-inch figure looks a lot like Walking Dead's Daryl Dixon

Daryl Dixon is a fictional character from the AMC television series The Walking Dead, portrayed by Norman Reedus. Daryl is a Southern hunter and expert tracker who constantly lives in the shadow of his brother, Merle. Like his brother, he is initially shown as volatile, short-tempered, and of questionable repute, but is tolerated by the group due to his survival skills.

From very early in the series, he is shown to be an extremely proficient zombie killer in both close quarters and ranged weaponry, and later becomes Rick's trusted right-hand man and protector. He also becomes "the go-to guy" of sorts for the group and is now well-liked and respected for his endeavors. Daryl is shown to be an expert marksman, but his signature weapon is a Horton Scout HD 125 crossbow, which Reedus says he takes home after filming.

Our World 1/6th scale Brave Huntsman 12-inch figure must be inspired by Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon character from The Walking Dead because not only does he have all the clothes and crossbow, he also comes with a dead squirrel. This figure isn't too far off from DoublePlay Walking Dead 1/6th scale Zombie Warrior Crossbow Man 12-inch Figure posted on my toy blog earlier HERE. I think this figure will look much better with Dam Toys 1/6th scale action 2.0 narrow shoulders body male 02 - pictures HERE.

Circumstances would put both father-and-son together in a fight to the death with mobsters. It's another vehicle capitalising on Liam Neeson's recent new found fame as an action hero, after his memorable role in 2008's Taken.

Having already covered the box packaging, contents and instructions of this recently released Hot Toys 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure from the Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) and Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set - OCP Police Officer Alex Murphy will be reviewed in the NEXT post - in my first part review HERE, I wanted to share more pictures of this awesome figure with a stunning head sculpt of actor Peter Weller's human face fused with metal parts that made this 1987 RoboCop movie a cult classic and one that the 2014 RoboCop film tried to emulate. I still enjoy this original gritty version much more than the newer, cleaner CGI-laden version. The 1987 RoboCop film was created with lots of stop motion animation without any computer work because CGI (Computer-generated imagery) just wasn't available back then.

The task of creating the RoboCop suit was given to Rob Bottin. A budget of up to one million dollars was allotted to the completion of the suit, making it the most expensive item on the set. A total of six suits were made: three intact and three showing damage. According to Rob Bottin: "RoboCop looks the way he does because that's the way a man's body works! Although we went through fifty different variations, developing his character, everything came back to man-like. It's definitely a guy in the suit, which doesn't belittle it any."

Hot Toys has replicated battle damaged RoboCop in 1:6 scale with such amazing movie accuracy and likeness that it's astounding. Looking at this Movie Masterpiece Series figure in pictures, one can be forgiven for thinking that it is a screen grab or picture taken of RoboCop from the film (that's just my opinion anyway). The quality that Hot Toys has brought to the 1:6 scale figure collecting hobby has opened up the market to an ever increasing number of 12-inch figure collectors. It's no longer simply toy collecting but an adult collectible market targeted at those with the means and spending power to pay a lot more for these limited edition collectible figures. Unfortunately, prices just seem to be going up and up. If only RoboCop could put an end to this injustice.

Review 1: Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure

This is the recently released Hot Toys 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) Collectible Figure from the Hot Toys MMS266 1/6th scale RoboCop (Battle Damaged Version) and Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set which was part of my July haul - posted on my toy blog HERE.

RoboCop is a 1987 American cyberpunk action film directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner. The film stars Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Dan O'Herlihy, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, and Ronny Cox. Set in a crime-ridden Detroit, Michigan, in the near future, RoboCop centers on police officer Alex Murphy (Weller) who is brutally murdered by a gang of criminals and subsequently revived by the mega-corporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) as a superhuman cyborg law enforcer known as "RoboCop".

Having already released a die-cast RoboCop figure earlier this year (see my part 1 review post HERE), Hot Toys went on to release this two figures set with a battle damaged RoboCop as seen towards the end of the film where RoboCop removes his helmet to reveal the human face of Alex Murphy under the helmet. This Hot Toys Battle Damaged RoboCop collectible figure is not die-cast but still part of their Movie Masterpiece Series. It would be quite crazy to create the battle damage effect on a die-cast figure. With Hot Toys' skill in crafting, sculpting and painting, they really don't have to resort to die-cast metal parts to create the metallic look. They have been doing fine with non-metallic parts / materials as evident in their original release of RoboCop so many years ago - see my post HERE of Hot Toys MMS010 RoboCop 12-inch figure (The First / Original version) which was released in 2006.

The Young and Dangerous film series (Chinese: 古惑仔) is a collection of Hong Kong films about a group of triad young members, detailing their adventures, dangers and growth in a Hong Kong triad society. The series is based on a popular comic book series known as "Teddy Boy".

The series contributed a lot to the public image of triads and was condemned by certain quarters as glorifying secret triad societies. However, it was immensely popular in Hong Kong and spun 9 sequels and spin-offs. Its main actors and actresses have also became major stars in their own right.

DC collectibles Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice - Armored Batman by James Marsano

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an upcoming American superhero film featuring the DC Comics characters Batman and Superman. It is intended to be the second installment in the DC Comics' shared universe films. The film is directed by Zack Snyder, with a screenplay written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer. The cast includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gal Gadot. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be the first live-action film to feature both Batman and Superman. It is scheduled to be release in the United States on March 25, 2016, in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.

We’re bringing Batman into the universe that now this Superman lives in."

Lots of goodies :) I can't wait to open these up and take pictures. Since I started this toy blog way back in July 2007 (my collection started much earlier in 1994), I haven't lost the passion for action figures. In fact, over the years, the technology and engineering that go into making these figures have improved by leaps and bounds and toy collecting is no longer an obscure and rare hobby but one which is very mainstream today, going by the number of specialty shops that have been set up just to deal with collectors who want to buy collectible figures, and the growing number of collectors who post and share pictures of their toys and figures on social media. That's a good thing because as long as there are collectors, more companies will step up and offer alternative options and more choices for collectors to pick and choose what they like. There are now so many toy and action figure companies offering so much varieties these days it's mind boggling.

This will be my last post on Hawkman for now ;p the wings are so majestic and imposing that I took quite a number of pictures and I had to spread them over two posts. I'm really impressed with this Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Variant 1/7th scale Hawkman 11.6-inch tall Collectible Figure, especially with the wings opened and in flight mode. I've already covered the box packaging and contents and wings folded on the figure as well as his accessories and weapons earlier on my toy blog HERE.

The wings are made up of three separate sections and each section has it's own articulation and can be manipulated individually which allows for more dynamic poses and flexibility.

Review 1: Square Enix Play Arts Kai DC Variant 1/7th scale Hawkman 11.6" Collectible Figure

Hawkman first appeared in Flash Comics #1 (1940), and was a featured character in that title throughout the 1940s. This Hawkman was Carter Hall, a reincarnation of the ancient Egyptian prince, Khufu. Hall discovered that the mysterious "ninth metal" could negate the effects of gravity and allow him to fly. He donned a costume with large wings to allow him to control his flight and became the crimefighter, Hawkman.

DC Comics would go on to re-invent Hawkman to fit in with the times. In the 1960s, Hawkman was revived in The Brave and the Bold # 34 (Feb-Mar 1961), this time as an alien policeman from the planet Thanagar, though his powers were largely the same.

All incarnations of Hawkman used the fictional "ninth metal" or "Nth metal" to defy gravity and allow them to fly. The metal is in their costume's belt, boots, and wings. Its abilities are controlled mentally. Their wings allow them to control their flight, though they can be "flapped" through use of shoulder motions. The Nth metal also regulates the body temperature of the wearer, preventing the need for heavy protective clothing while in high altitudes. It also has the property of radiating heat, which can be controlled to warm the wearer in colder climates. The Nth metal greatly aids in healing, closing wounds almost instantaneously. In most comic books he is known to have slightly enhanced physical strength.

There's going to be a new 12-inch Ultraman in town!

Shinjiro Hayata (早田 進次郎 Hayata Shinjirō) is the son of Shin Hayata, the protagonist of the Ultraman manga, who due to his father's merger with Ultraman, gained Ultra Genes he later passed on to his son. A somewhat lonely boy with a good heart, Shinjiro carries on his father's legacy as Ultraman. The manga is published in HERO magazine and is a seinen, meaning that the story is intended to be mature and dark.

"12'Hero's Meister" is a new brand bringing characters from  Monthly Comic Magazine HERO'S into figures in the standard size: 12 inches. With Sentinel's unique design and manufacture technique, the action figures' full craftsmanship will be presented.

The first character in this series will be the Ultraman of the dawning era: "Shinjiro Hayata", son of the first Ultraman "Shin Hayata", wearing the modern ultra-suit to be the next Ultraman. Marvel characters have been sized up before but there hasn’t been any way to compare the heights of our favourite DC Comics superheroes. Until now.

By thoroughly researching the DC Wikia database and other sources, we’ve been able to accurately compare 21 different superheros on an infographic hand-drawn in the classic comic book style. And yes, Superman IS taller than Batman. By one inch.

With the upcoming release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Justice League, you can get even more of an insight into the true physicality of these DC Comics superheroes. Some of them might surprise you!

Robin, for instance, is only 4’6” and still in his teens. Our representation of Robin is the latest revision of the character and Bruce Wayne’s biological son, Damian. The first Robin, Dick Grayson, eventually becomes the vigilante superhero Nightwing after outgrowing his status as Batman’s side-kick.

The overwhelming mechanism which interlinks the retraction gimmick for the head armor, opening and closing gimmick for the chest hatch, and the LED lights throughout its body, is engineered by T-REX. Also with the upper torso of the Bleeding Edge armor inside, complete with light-up gimmicks for its eyes and Arc Reactor, the Hulkbuster armor is a truly massive item you wouldn’t want to miss out.

The metallic color for the whole body is beautifully painted. By using different tones of colors for each segment, more detail and lively look has been added to the large sized parts. Numerous different shades of metallic are used for the paint finish to delicately accentuate the details throughout its body. Not only the design elements from the original comics, such as the distinctive metallic red and gold color scheme and massive upper torso are faithfully followed, but also new design arrange are added, such as detail that resembles multiple layers of armor on the chest to give it a more convincing look as an “Add-On Armor”.

This Soviet Female Sniper 12-inch figure just reminds me of the 2001 film "Enemy at the Gates". The film's title is taken from William Craig's 1973 nonfiction book "Enemy at the Gates: The Battle for Stalingrad", which describes the events surrounding the Battle of Stalingrad in the winter of 1942/43. While fictional, the film is loosely based on war stories told by Soviet sniper Vasily Zaytsev. No longer just stealthy, this latest re-imagined and re-designed Catwoman has a armor enhanced catsuit with a special mask / helmet with visor. Her tail is detachable and becomes a spiked whip. Catwoman's flowing long hair also has movable joint that allows it to be posed.

Review III: Hot Toys "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th Captain America 12-inch Collectible Figure

This is the 1/6th scale head sculpt of Chris Evans as Captain America / Steve Rogers that comes with the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS281 "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th scale Captain America Collectible Figure and Hot Toys certainly nailed the head sculpt here. The movie-accurate facial expression including detailed wrinkles and skin texture is just stunning. It's like you are looking at a picture of the actor in costume. Captain America's costume consists of: one blue embossed patterned uniform with star emblem and red and white patterns, a pair of blue embossed patterned pants with pouches, knee pads, and red trims, one brown leather-like back shield holder and body strap, a brown leather-like belt with pouches, and a pair of black and brown boots.
