Playhouse 1:6 GSG-9 (low profile version) REVIEW I

Playhouse 1:6 scale GSG-9 (abbreviation of GrenzSchutzGruppe 9 which means Border Guard Group 9, the elite counter-terrorism and special operations unit of the German Federal Police) low-profile version is just an excuse to show off the company's interpretation of Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in season 7 of "24". "24" follows the exploits of Jack Bauer, an experienced and lethal member of the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU). Set across a span of twenty-four hours, we get to watch Jack work with and against members of his own team in the attempt to keep America safe from whoever threatens it.

In season 7 (also known as Day 7) of "24", Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) races against time to find the CIP device, part of a plot to infiltrate the nation's computer infrastructure. The CIP (Classified Internet Protocol?) device is a device used to hack through the firewall into the mainframe America. The firewall normally prevents access for hackers to services such as power, air traffic control, and other government databases.

Basic figure out of the box wearing 1:6 scale LOGG jacket over black long sleeve sweater, blue denim jeans and Heroes boots

Playhouse 1:6 scale "Bube" head sculpt. Resemblance to that of American actor Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer of "24" is purely coincidental.

Close-up of the very nice and detailed LOGG jacket

Other accessories included: Apex vest (body armor), MMG backpack, brown leather belt, black balaclava, large aviator sunglasses, Germany flag patch, mobile phone, black heat grip CT gloved hands. Without putting on the Germany flag patch and balaclava, this figure ceases to be GSG-9. In fact, the picture Playhouse based the figure on (which can be easily found on the internet) looks nothing like their 1:6 Counter-Terrorism Operator "Bube".

"Bube" also comes with Storm single point sling, MP7 holster, PS1 paddle holster, MP7-A1 PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) with front and rear sights plus EOTech holo sight, MP7 standard and extended magazines, P226 pistol with removable magazine

And here's Playhouse 1:6 GSG-9 (low profile version) "Bube" kitted out

And here's how Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) looked in Season 7 wearing identical attire and kit. Although not shown in this particular picture, Jack was also armed with the MP7.

A close-up view of the Heckler & Koch (H&K) MP7-A1 with an extendable stock and a folding front grip (it can be fired either one- or two-handed). The MP7 essentially operates like a scaled-down assault rifle, with the same action as HK's G36. It fires a specially designed, armor-piercing round with a muzzle velocity nearly as high as that of the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge used by many modern rifles.

Word on the street is Playhouse used to be a supplier for Hot Toys' military series so the quality of their stuff looks pretty good. Saturday Toys and Playhouse are one and the same too.

thanks Daren, for the compliments :) glad that you found a GREAT new hobby haha Unfortunately, these clothes would be too BIG for the Enterbay Jack Bauer because Enterbay made their figures smaller than everyone else (except perhaps Medicom) - almost 1:7 scale instead of the standard 1:6

You can see a comparison picture in my post HERE: http://toyhaven.blogspot.com/2009/04/enterbay-24-jack-bauer.html
