Being a big fan of Batman growing up, the 1960s Batman TV series certainly played a big part in sealing in the love for the DC Comics character. It didn't matter that the show was campy and I was watching re-runs, as kids we all loved it. Just seeing Batman and Robin in costume and fighting crime in live action was exciting, as if the two dimensional comic book characters sprang to life and was actually living and breathing action heroes. There has never been 12-inch figures made of the dynamic duo until now. I'm really glad it's Hot Toys that got the license to produce and release these 1966 Batman figures because coming from Hot Toys, you know that quality is assured and these will look GREAT!

Besides the Batman TV series in the 1960s, there was also The Lone Ranger, an American western drama television series that ran from 1949 to 1957, starring Clayton Moore (John Hart from 1952 to 1954) with Jay Silverheels as Tonto. I could only watch the re-runs but I still loved every episode. So when I found out that Walt Disney Pictures was making The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp as Tonto, I was excited all over again. Unfortunately, Armie Hammer's Lone Ranger was nothing like Clayton Moore's version of the masked vigilante and that was a big letdown. The movie didn't do very well either. That aside, I'm a big Johnny Depp fan so Hot Toys 1/6 scale Tonto is a MUST even though there's no sign of his partner in sight. Because the movie flopped, I doubt Hot Toys will even bother to continue with this line since bad movie = no demand for movie-related merchandise.
Hot Toys chose to release Iron Patriot from "Iron Man 3" as their first die-cast figure (MMS195-D01) and even though War Machine 2 came out first, Iron Patriot is still number 1 in the die-cast series. Die-cast means higher cost because almost everything is made of metal and heavier in weight as a result. I couldn't miss out on Iron Patriot even though I am not a hard-core Hot Toys Iron Man fan i.e. I did not collect almost all the 1/6 scale Iron Man figures as that would really burn a big hole in the pocket and these are just collectibles and not must-haves for me so I chose the armors I want and didn't pick up the rest, which is almost all of them ;p Cost is always an issue when it comes to buying figures and the prices of Hot Toys figures have just been going up and up, limiting the number of figures I can get but this was one figure I wasn't going to miss out on.
Last but not least, I picked up this Super Duck C006 1/6 scale Racing Suit for 12-inch figures. I certainly have someone in mind when I saw this. No prizes for guessing who. There are at least two versions of this racing suit in the market (see the preview pictures of both versions HERE) and I decided to go with the Super Duck version.

I grew up watching the 1966 Batman tv show, too, so I am eager to see those photos.
I would have liked a Hot Toys Johnny Depp, but from the box cover, I think they will have the figure wearing "war paint." That would distract from my needs for him, lol. Shrug. Eh well. Woulda been nice ;-)
