Review II: Play Toy P003 1/6 The Villain 12-inch figure - Jean-Claude Van Damme as Jean Vilain

continued from previous post...

This is Play Toy P003 1/6th scale The Villain 12-inch figure OR Jean-Claude Van Damme JCVD as Jean Vilain in The Expendables 2 with his black leather coat and pistol. I think this Play Toy "Villain" figure looks more like Jean-Claude Van Damme with the 1/6 scale shades / sunglasses on. You can check out how the 1/6 scale head sculpt looks like without shades HERE, in my first part review of this 12-inch Jean Vilain figure.

Jean-Claude Van Damme portrays Jean Vilain, leader of an Albanian criminal group known as the Sang in the film The Expendables 2. He goes up against Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team of merry men, and almost takes them out. In the end, there is the duel to the death between Ross and Vilain. I don't have to tell you who won since Expendables 3 has already been released.

This is the first 1/6th scale figure of Jean-Claude Van Damme I have and since I am not willing to pay the ridiculous price Enterbay is asking for their JCVD figure, I am actually quite pleased with how this figure turned out. And with Dam Toys' announcement that they might be producing and releasing 12-inch figures of Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme from the 1992 science fiction action film "Universal Soldier", it looks like I don't have to wait very long for another JCVD figure to add to the ever growing collection of action figures that I already have.

Play Toy P003 1/6th scale The Villain 12-inch action figure OR Jean-Claude Van Damme JCVD as Jean Vilain in The Expendables 2 comes with 1/6 scale head sculpt, 12-inch figure body, 4 swappable hands, black leather coat, long sleeve black T-shirt, belt, tactical belt, boots, sunglasses, Steyr AUG assault rifle, Colt M1911A1 pistol x 2, pistol magazines x 2, shoulder holster, metal hunting knife, hunting knife sheath, figure stand.

In "The Expendables 2" film, Jean Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme), leader of an Albanian criminal group known as the Sang, uses a Walther P99 with a gold-plated slide as his sidearm. Vilain's right hand man, Hector (Scott Adkins) uses a heavily customized Colt M1911A1 pistol as his sidearm in the film. These just look like regular Colt pistols.

Still, the Colt M1911 .45 caliber pistol has achieved quite a feat as a weapon. The M1911 served as the standard-issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1985, and is still carried by some U.S. forces even today. The M1911 was replaced by the 9mm Beretta M9 pistol as the standard U.S. sidearm in the early 1990s, but due to its popularity among users, it has not been completely phased out. Modernized derivative variants of the M1911 are still in use by some units of the U.S. Army Special Forces, the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. That means the pistol has been in use for more than a century (that's 100 years!) and is still relevant today as it was back in the last century. Knives have been around for the longest time but these days, it's not a weapon of choice for a fire-fight as it lacks range but the M1911 is equal to the task of any modern age pistol.

The 1/6 scale black leather coat is nicely done and stitched and fits 12-inch JCVD rather well. I also like the laced up boots as opposed to the plastic molded versions.

Scroll down to see the close-up shots of the Play Toy P003 1/6 The Villain head sculpt with shades on. It does resemble Jean-Claude Van Damme and the likeness is there. It even has the bump on the forehead that JCVD has. A reporter once asked JCVD about the bump on his forehead and wondered if it was an accident. Van Damme replied that it was a cyst.

The tattoo on his neck appeared in "The Expendables 2" film and it is the sign of the Sangs, the criminal group that Barney Ross and company is up against.
