Frodo Baggins from Lord of the Rings by Sideshow

Without the hobbit Frodo Braggins, there would be no Fellowship and there would be no Lord of the Rings. Once Gandalf discovered that the ring Frodo inherited from his uncle Bilbo Baggins was the One Ring of the Dark Lord, Sauron, Frodo decided to leave the Shire and take the Ring to Rivendell, home of Elrond, the mighty Elf lord. In Rivendell, the Council of Elrond made the decision to destroy the Ring by casting it into Mount Doom in Mordor, the realm of Sauron. Frodo volunteered and the Fellowship of the Ring consisting of nine companions was thus formed.

After a long wait, Sideshow finally releases the hobbits. Understandable since it involves a whole new smaller body. Check out the bottom right corner of the box and you'll see "In association with Hot Toys" - sign of good things to come.


Frodo comes with Phial of Galadriel, pipe, his Elvish knife, scabbard and belt and haversack

He has multiple layers of clothing (more achievable with 1/6 scale figures than others and that's why I collect them), and the stitching and details are quite nice. He has his basic shirt, vest and pants. No boots or shoes, hobbits are famous for their BIG hairy feet.

Frodo Baggins is played by Elijah Wood and fearing that he'll be typecast, played a cannibalistic, bespectacled serial killer Kevin in director Robert Rodriguez and writer-artist Frank Miller's visually arresting adaptation of Miller's crime noir comic book series "Sin City (2005)", appearing opposite Mickey Rourke as Marv. Robert Rodriguez's truly authentic adaptation of the comic is simply breathtaking and paved the way for Frank Miller's "300 (2007)" and proved that great comics can also become great movies!!

Elijah Wood as Frodo also comes with the all important One Ring with chain. Unfortunately, the One Ring is made of plastic :(

Frodo has a coat over his vest over his shirt and pants. Notice the nice sculpting of the hair and hands - I'm quite sure Hot Toys played a big part in that.

Frodo also has a clasic cloak but I find the green a little too bright - makes him look like a leprechaun. Little Green Riding Hood?

He also comes with the Lothlorien cloak with Elven leaf brooch

The Elven cloak is thinner and comes with the Elven leaf brooch worn by Frodo, Legolas, Aragorn, Boromir, and the other members of the Fellowship in Peter Jackson's film version of The Lord of the Rings. This piece symbolizes the spirit and bond of those entrusted to save Middle-Earth.

Frodo with pipe. He may be small but he's not a child. He was 50 years old when he left the Shire with the One Ring.

Quite youthful looking for a 50-year old. His uncle Bilbo left the Shire for good on his eleventy-first (111st) birthday and Frodo inherited Bag End and Bilbo's magic ring. Frodo kept the Ring hidden for seventeen years until Gandalf returned to tell him that it was the One Ring of the Dark Lord, Sauron and that the Ring would make Sauron all powerful again.


The Phial of Galadriel, a parting gift to Frodo Baggins by Galadriel when the Fellowship of the Ring left Lórien. It was also known as the Star-glass, because it held a little fragment of the light of the Evening Star Eärendil. While travelling to Mordor via Cirith Ungol, both Frodo and Samwise Gamgee used the light of the Phial to fend off attacks from the monstrous arachnid Shelob in Torech Ungol.

Frodo with Sting - an Elvish knife made in Gondolin, named and used as a sword by Bilbo (although it was only a dagger by the standard of Men or Elves, it made a handy short sword for a hobbit) and given to Frodo just before the Fellowship of the Ring sets off from Rivendell. The weapon glows blue in the presence of Orcs.

Frodo with his haversack. Unfortunately, it is sewn shut and has no opening pockets, a silly decision on Sideshow's part.

Size comparisons - Boromir, Aragorn, Frodo and Legolas. Faramir is not included in the line-up because he wasn't part of the Fellowship of the Ring although he is of the same height as the men and Elf.
