1966 Batmobile by Hot Wheels

Hot Toys Batmobile this is NOT but this is definitely the inspiration for all those really cool Batmobiles that came after. This is the original live action Batmobile and Hot Wheels just released this 1/18 scale Batmobile from the campy Batman TV series of the 60s. One of the coolest thing from that series must be this, the Batmobile (and one of the hottest would be Batgirl!!) The 1966 Batmobile was created by George Barris who modified an existing car, the 1955 Lincoln Futura which was conceptualised as a futuristic concept car and subsequently sold to George Barris for USD1.00 (WTF!!) in December 1965. Current estimated value: USD2million!! So since I cannot afford the actual car, this will do :)

Check out the Bat Phone, that's the red "doohickey thingamabob whatchamacallit thingamajig thingy gizmo object" between the seats where the parking brake should be.

The steering wheel actually turns the front wheels - nice touch

The jet exhaust for that extra boost

Triple rocket tubes

Obviously, the Batmobile has come a long way, from this to the current Tumbler seen in the new Batman movie. The Tumbler was destroyed with an RPG by the Joker in the latest instalment "The Dark Knight" and replaced by the Batpod.

Size comparisons using Kubrick Batman and Robin plus Lego Batman and Robin

Don't you just love the look of it! George Barris of Barris Kustom City did a damn fine job creating the original Batmobile - kudos to him
