Special Operations Force

On March 26, 1991 Singapore's Special Operations Force (SOF) stormed Singapore Airlines flight SQ117 and killed all four Pakistani hijackers on board. The four had threatened to kill one hostage every 10 minutes unless their demands were met and had given the Singapore authorities five minutes to decide what to do. Three minutes into the countdown, the SOF gave the hijackers Singapore's answer: "We do not negotiate with terrorists!"

The operation, codenamed Thunderbolt, marked the first time the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) resolved a hijacking with deadly force. The operation also marked the first occasion when an SAF unit was deployed for operations even before its existence was publicly acknowledged. The veil of secrecy over the SOF was lifted on Feb 20, 1997, nearly six years after the SQ117 rescue and some 13 years after the SOF was formed in April 1984. One can never get enough of Special Ops, they are just so cool. Here's my kitbash of a 1/6 scale 12-inch Special Ops operator, just for fun :)

He is armed with a Heckler & Koch (HK) G36 assault rifle with dual sight system and 40mm AG36 underbarrel grenade launcher

Also has Benelli M3 Super 90 Shotgun

And his trusty sidearm holstered

Was originally supposed to be KSK (Kommando Spezialkräfte of Germany's Special Forces) but after I took parts of him out, including using his uniform for a Christian Bale John Connor bash (see post here), I just wanted him to be a Special Ops guy.

The KSK were also deployed in Afghanistan (see my entry here)
