Full Metal M82A1 Preview

The Barrett M82 (also sometimes designated by the military as the M107) is a recoil-operated, semi-automatic anti-materiel rifle developed by the American Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. A heavy SASR (Special Application Scoped Rifle), it is used by many units and armies around the world. It is also called the "Light Fifty" for its .50 caliber BMG (12.7 mm) chambering. The weapon is found in two variants—the original M82A1 (and A3) and the bullpup M82A2. The M82A2 is no longer manufactured, though the XM500 can be seen as its successor, in that it also employs a bullpup configuration. [source: wiki]

A company in China (where else?) will be releasing this 1/6 scale all metal (die-cast) version of the M82A1 SASR. Looks impressive

Problem with 1/6 scale die-cast weapons? They are too heavy for the 12-inch plastic soldier who will become top heavy carrying the weapon and make him contemplate taking a dive off the shelf - NOT GOOD or cause the ramrod straight well-disciplined military guy to slouch - NOT GOOD either.

In my entry "3 shots 3 kills", I posed one of the SEALs with an M82A1 Heavy Sniper Rifle - click HERE for the link to the post

3 Shots, 3 Kills

Dragon Models DML had released a 1/6 scale 12-inch US Army Special Forces figure "Dean" armed with a Barrett M82 .50inch sniper rifle. More pictures HERE

Dragon Models DML also released a 1/6 scale 12-inch SCUD Hunter "Greg", US Army Special Forces Sniper, Gulf War 1991 in 2001 and he too came with a Barrett 82A1 .50 Caliber Semi-Automatic sniper rifle. I switched mine into a Jake Gyllenhaal as US Marine Corps Scout Sniper Swofford from "Jarhead (2005)" figure instead - pictures HERE

Bill Paxton used the M82A1 model equipped with thermal sight and Starlight scope in "Navy SEALs (1990)". The Original M82 Model was used as the 'Cobra Assault Cannon' in "RoboCop (1987)".

The detail looks extremely good. If it's too heavy you can always pose it in a prone position :)

Though it would be kinda going against your policy of displaying your figures hah.

I bought ZY's version instead, more variation.

Will pass on this..just got the ZY's version. But on the 2nd thought, the metal version should look pretty cool on the weapon shelves :)
