Hot Toys "Predators" Royce 1/6 Figure REVIEW 1

This is the recently released Hot Toys MMS131 (Movie Masterpiece Series) – Predators: 1/6th scale Royce Collectible Figure from the "Predators (2010)" movie.

The film follows Royce (Adrien Brody), a mercenary, who wakes up finding himself falling from the sky into a jungle. As the film progresses, the group discovers that they are on an alien planet that acts as a game preserve to which they are being hunted by a merciless race of aliens known as Predators.

The figure and all his accessories come in a box with a slip-case cover. The slip-case has a red plastic sheet pasted over certain portions of the slipcase which has been cut out, giving the impression that Royce is being seen through red lens.

The box cover itself has a picture of the Hot Toys Royce which looks almost like a film still or screen grab. You almost can't tell if this was a photo of the actor or the miniature 1/6 scale version of him.

The box opens to reveal the figure within the window display. A short write-up appears on the inside front cover: Robert Rodriguez presents PREDATORS, a bold new chapter in the Predator universe. It stars Adrien Brody, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they've been brought together on an alien planet... as prey.

The tray containing the 1/6 scale 12-inch Hot Toys Royce figure and accessories, including weapons. I believe the box is taller to cater space for the Berserker Predator and Falconer Predator which will be taller and bigger. This way, all the boxes will be standardized in height and size.

IMPORTANT: Predators Royce Instruction Sheet showing you how to remove the assault vest, wear the neckerchief or Shemagh scarf, attach the drop-down pistol holster and machete sheath, move the head and arms correctly and care for the body.

The basic figure out of the box, wearing a white colored vest (T-shirt) under his long sleeve light brown colored shirt, tactical vest with heavy duty belt and pouches, dark blue colored pants with side pockets and a belt, and black boots. He wears a watch on his left hand and a wrist band on his right hand.

He has the AA-12 drum magazine pouch attached to his belt on his back

Close-up pictures of the Adrien Brody as Royce 1/6 scale head sculpt by Hot Toys. The pianist has come a long way to become a hardened mercenary. You can be sure he'll be able to sniff out trouble ;p

Royce has a slight scar on his left cheek, all done to be movie accurate

Royce (Adrien Brody) carries an AA-12 automatic 12-Gauge shotgun throughout the movie. It is fitted with a drum magazine loaded with Frag-12 rounds, and fitted with a Surefire M900 weaponlight foregrip. The custom camouflage paint appears to be similar to the US Army's pixelized UCP pattern. It also could be more closely related to the current USMC MARPAT woodland pattern.

The 1/6 scale AA-12 automatic 12-Gauge shotgun by Hot Toys has a removable drum magazine and rifle sling. Unfortunately, the camouflage pattern is not as pronounced as it is seen in the film.

Also included: One (1) gloved right palm for holding his knives and One (1) gloved relaxed left palm, besides the pair of gloved palms for holding his guns. There's the Shemagh scarf, an axe, the drop-down holster for his pistol...

one combat fighting knife and one machete with machete sheath...

A modified 1/6 scale M1911 pistol with working slide and hammer plus removable suppressor, AA-12 drum magazine and 16 Frag-12 shotgun shells.

The Auto Assault-12 (AA-12) (originally designed and known as the Atchisson Assault Shotgun) is a shotgun developed in 1972 by Maxwell Atchisson. The current 2005 version has been developed over 18 years since the patent was sold to Military Police Systems, Inc.

The weapon is selective fire, operating as a semi-automatic, or in fully automatic mode at 300 rounds per minute. It is fed from either an 8-shell box magazine, or a 20 or 32-shell drum magazine. [source: wiki]

The AA-12 uses many different types of cartridges such as 00 buck shot, #4 bird shot, 12 gauge lead slugs, or less-than-lethal rubber stun batons. It can also fire flares or special Frag-12 19 mm fin-stabilized HE, HEAP, and sensor fused HEAB "air-burst" fragmentation shells that can detonate in mid-air.
