Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Voyager Class Optimus Prime REVIEW 1

Remember how much I like anything transparent that shows the working parts inside? I had posted transparent versions of the Bandai MS-06 Zaku II clear color version model kit and Bandai Mobile Suit Gundam RX-78-2 clear color version model kit in earlier posts (click on the links to bring you there). Well, my wonderful wife and number ONE supporter surprised me with this transparent / clear version Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime recently :) Even though I don't really collect Transformers toys, I cannot resist one that is clear / transparent but you must know that already. So on with the show!

This is the 2008 released Hasbro Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Voyager Class Optimus Prime CLEAR version which features: Autobot leader Optimus Prime from the "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" movie. It transforms from robot to truck in the blink of an eye (well, almost) and has missile-firing cannons. He's ready for battle. Are you?

The back of the box reads: "From the moment Optimus Prime took Earth as a new home for himself and his people, he was rededicated to its protection. Since that day, he has focused all of his considerable will and power on rooting out the last few Decepticons and destroying them. To that end, he has upgraded and refined his sensor suite, and trained with Ironhide in tracking the evil robots." The pictures show how the full color version Transformers Voyager Class Optimus Prime looks like. In robot mode, the smoke stacks convert to double missile firing cannons!

And here's the Hasbro Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Voyager Class Optimus Prime CLEAR version in truck mode straight out of the box. Afterall, Transformers are robots in disguise!

In truck / vehicle mode, the mid-range Voyager Class Optimus Prime transforms into an amalgamation of the Kenworth W900 and the Peterbilt 379, making this toy fairly inaccurate to the actual vehicle Optimus Prime turned into in the movie "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". [ source ] I have to say I do like the truck shape of this Voyager Class Optimus Prime. It has more curves and is less angular.

Because of the smaller size and lessened complexity, the Voyager Class Optimus Prime features a significantly different transformation sequence compared to the Leader Class toy, and indeed, the actual CGI design. However, as the actual truck cabin no longer forms his chest, the cabin now features a small interior with opening doors and a non-removable cowboy-hat-bedecked driver figurine that flips out of the seat when the driver's side door is opened, which is a good thing since I don't particularly like the cowboy figure.

The front grill features the Autobot symbol / insignia. In all but one Transformer story, the "Heroic Autobots" are opposed by the Evil Decepticons — the main antagonists in Transformers. Both Autobots and Decepticons are humanoid robots that can transform into machines, vehicles and other familiar mechanical objects. Most of the Autobot groups' names have the suffix "-bot" in them while the Decepticon groups' names end in "-icon".

In the "Transformers" live action films, the word "Autobot", according to Ratchet, is an abbreviation of the phrase Autonomous robotic organisms, making it seem like Autobot is likely the Transformers species name in this continuity

Prepare to do battle... Autobot style! Gear up with Optimus Prime and the good guys from the "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" movie. Fire either of two missiles from this mighty leader's cannons in robot mode, or transform to tough-truck mode and turn the smokestack into cannons! Either way, you're armed for battle! The only question is, are you ready? Measures about 7 inches long in vehicle mode.

And here are two Optimus Prime placed side-by-side for comparisons: On the left is Leader Class Optimus Prime (released in 2007) while the one on the right is Voyager Class Optimus Prime (clear version). The largest 2007 Transformers movie Optimus Prime toy, Leader Class Optimus Prime featured, at the time, the most accurate representation of the CGI designs' complex transformation sequence.

Leader Class Optimus Prime transforms into a heavily-customized Peterbilt 379 conventional extended-hood, and unusually for a mainline figure, he has rubber tires on all his wheels.

Leader Class Optimus Prime in vehicle / truck mode is more angular than the curvier Voyager Class Optimus Prime. It is also more movie-accurate.

Leader Class Optimus Prime's Ion Blaster weapon is stored in the rear of the truck's bunk, exposed like an engine block. Though Optimus has no trailer, he has a hole where the fifth wheel (known among fans as a 'hitch') is sculpted in the rear of the truck, should owners find a suitable trailer to use.

Due to safety reasons, the tips of his long smokestacks are made of rubber. A switch on top of the cab roof activates horn sounds and window lights. Remember to remove all batteries when not in play!
