Avengers Assemble with Hasbro The Avengers Movie Mini Muggs. Sadly, Black Widow's M.I.A.

Mini Muggs are smaller versions of Mighty Muggs, a vinyl–plastic collectible toy series made by Hasbro. The toys resemble super deformed versions of characters from the following franchises: Star Wars, Marvel Comics, Indiana Jones, G.I. Joe, and Transformers.

I had bought the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2011 exclusive: The Avengers Mini Muggs 5-pack: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Giant Man (Giant Man is in the traditional Mighty Muggs size) - that was released in 2011 because they were just too cute and brought a smile to everybody's face when I brought the pack home (see my reviews HERE and HERE).

The Avengers movie was released in Singapore just this week on May 1, 2012 and needless to say, it's the movie everyone's talking about, tweeting and facebooking so I won't reveal anything about the movie here except to say that I've watched it twice already ;p and everyone should watch it at least once for its sheer entertainment value.

So naturally, when this exclusive The Avengers movie tie-in Mini Muggs wave was released, I had to get it :) The only thing that held me back from buying the set both times (then and now) was the lack of inclusion of the female characters / figures, the Wasp is absent from the original line-up and Black Widow is sorely missing from the latest wave :(

Why doesn't Hasbro release the Mini Muggs female figures / characters? Is it because the nature and design of the Mini Muggs and Mighty Muggs figure doesn't flatter the female anatomy? Afterall, they are described as tiny, spunky, chunky and chunky doesn't sit well with females at all. Try calling a female FAT and get ready to do battle because you asked for it!

Unlike the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2011 exclusive: The Avengers Mini Muggs 5-pack: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Giant Man (Giant Man is in the traditional Mighty Muggs size) that was released in 2011, these The Avengers Mini Muggs figures are individually packed so that you can buy just one figure if you so choose to.

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America - A World War II veteran who was enhanced to the peak of human physicality by an experimental serum. Captain America comes painted in the new costume as seen in The Avengers film, a different take from what we have seen in the comics, all to do with keeping the uniform / costume current and up to date with the viewing audience.

Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton / Hawkeye, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and master archer known in the comics as the "World's Greatest Marksman".

Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Bruce Banner / Hulk. A genius scientist who, because of exposure to gamma radiation, transforms into a monster when enraged or excited. Ruffalo does a fine turn as the HULK! The Avengers Movie Mini Muggs figure is also different from the Marvel Comics Avengers Hulk Mini Muggs figure. They are all painted differently which I like :)

Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man. A self-described genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist with a mechanical suit of armor of his own invention. Tony Stark is wearing the Iron Man Mark VII armor suit.

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. The director of S.H.I.E.L.D., who was revealed in previous films to be coordinating the "Avenger Initiative".

Chris Hemsworth as Thor. The god of thunder based on the Norse deity of the same name.

I was so excited to share these I haven't even taken them out of their packaging yet :) A nice set overall BUT I would really have preferred a Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow Mini Mugg. That would have made it all complete!
