Preview Kotobukiya Evangelion 3.0 ~ Neo Genesis Evangelion Test Type 01 Kit model kit

A Kotobukiya Japanese import!

Neon Genesis Evangelion continues to be one of the most enduring anime franchises in history with some of the most beloved characters of all time... not least of which are the incredible giant robots known as Evas. The next intricate plastic model kit from the series brings to life the most famous and popular of the Evas known as Evangelion Test Type 01!

A tall, lanky cyborg machine piloted by the Third Child Shinji Ikari, Unit-01 is humanoid with thin limbs, reinforced knees and chest, shoulder extensions, and its iconic horned head. The model kit is comprised of over 400 parts pre-colored in the Eva’s traditional black, purple, and green color scheme so no painting is required. It also has a staggering 60 points of articulation for extreme poseability, and you can recreate just about any of your favorite scenes with tons of extra parts and accessories like the 01’s second set of arms, multiple hands, energy effects and halos, Spears, and more! Sculpted by Yuichi Kuwamura and Shohei Chiba, Test Type 01 stands 7 ½ inches tall (1/400 scale). Display it by itself or with other Evangelion-inspired plastic model kits from Kotobukiya!

This looks good! Evangelion is an apocalyptic anime in the mecha genre. The series is set in a futuristic Tokyo, fifteen years after a worldwide cataclysm. The main story centers around Shinji, a teenage boy who is recruited by the shadowy organization NERV to pilot a giant bio-machine called an Evangelion in combat against monstrous beings known as Angels. Evangelion is one of the most successful and critically acclaimed anime television series of the 1990s. Considered both a critique and deconstruction of the mecha genre, the series has become a cultural icon and has resulted in the artistic and technical revival of the anime industry.

August 31, 2011 – Z is also for Zaku II posted in my toy blog HERE

There's also the Federal Force Prototype General Purpose Mobile Suit Mobile Suit Gundam RX-178 - a 440mm tall 1:60 scale Gundam robot that is NOT a model kit but a fully articulated toy figure. How's that for HUGE?
Even larger than 44cm? I present to you the General Marshall Gundam RX-178 - an upsized regular Mobile Suit Gundam RX-178 with Samurai armour. It is approximately 45cm (18 inches) tall! I think that's one of the biggest figures I have :)

Other robots that are manned by humans:
MK-6 Amplified Mobility Platform or AMP suit as seen in James Cameron's futuristic film, "Avatar"
See Col Quaritch operating with his machine - AMP in Action!
Batbot by Mattel - seen in "The Batman" animated series
Toys McCoy 1/6 Super Armored Fighting Suit SAFS aka Ma.k Maschinen Krieger
And there are the the Medicom Kubrick versions (link here). For a complete detailed breakdown, check out the following links: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3.1, Chapter 3.2

Let's not forget the Hot Toys 1/6 scale "ALIENS" Power Loader and the Kenner released 1992 version Space Marine Power Loader as well plus Medicom Kubrick version (too cute to resist)

Hi Alex, the Eva depicted here is the EVA-13 from the latest movie, and not the EVA-01.
The difference lies in the number of hands and eyes.
Thanks for sharing, been a fan for years.

A BIG thanks Daniel for the correction :) I'm such an ignoramus when it comes to this.
